IELTS coaching fees in India depend mainly on three things: live or recorded teaching, class size, and how much 1-on-1 time you get with a trainer. What decides the price of IELTS coaching?
Trainer time decides most of the price. Recorded courses are cheapest because one video serves thousands of people. Live classes cost more, and 1-on-1 costs the most because a trainer works only with you.
- Live or recorded: recorded is low cost; live group classes are mid; 1-on-1 is high.
- Class size: a batch of 5 costs more to run per student than a batch of 40, but you speak and get corrected far more often.
- Writing evaluations: each essay marked by a trainer takes real time. Courses with many trainer-marked essays usually cost more.
- 1-on-1 speaking: private speaking mocks add cost, and add the most realistic practice.
- Duration: a longer course costs more, but more weeks is not the same as more trainer hours. Compare hours, not weeks.

What hidden costs should you plan for?
The biggest hidden cost is a second exam fee. If a cheaper course leaves you short of your band, you pay the exam fee again, plus more weeks of waiting.
- Retake exam fee: paid again to the test centre for every new attempt.
- Extra mock tests: some courses include only one or two; more cost extra.
- Extra writing evaluations: check if essays beyond a limit are charged.
- Material: books or test packs sold separately.
- Extension fees: some courses charge to extend access if your exam date moves.
Is the IELTS exam fee included in coaching fees?

How do you compare value between IELTS courses?
Divide the fee by what you actually get from a trainer. Two numbers work well: price per live trainer hour, and price per trainer-marked essay.
- Count the live hours. Sessions × length of each session. Ignore recorded hours for this number.
- Divide the fee by live hours. This is your cost per hour of teaching.
- Check the class size. An hour shared by 5 people gives you far more speaking time than an hour shared by 40.
- Count the marked essays. Unlimited, 10, or 2 changes the value a lot if Writing is your weak skill.
- Add the risk. What happens if you do the work and still miss your band? Read the refund or guarantee conditions.

For example, if Live Coaching sessions run every other day for 30 days, that is about 15 sessions, or roughly 22 hours of live teaching in a group of 5 or fewer — about ₹660 per live hour, before counting the marked essays and speaking mocks. Run the same sum for any course you are considering.
Is the cheapest IELTS course the right choice?
Only if it gives you what your weak skill needs. If you need a Listening or Reading boost, a low-cost course with good practice tests may be enough. If Writing or Speaking is stuck, a course without a person to mark and correct you often costs more in the end, because of retakes.
