CELPIP Exam Fee in India and Canada (2026)

In Canada, the CELPIP-General test costs CA$299 plus taxes in 2026, and CELPIP-General LS, the listening and speaking test used for citizenship, costs CA$199 plus taxes. In India, CELPIP charges a rupee price that shows when you choose a session on celpip.ca. If you cancel at least 7 calendar days before your test, you get 50% of the fee back.

These are CELPIP’s Canadian prices. Outside Canada, CELPIP sets a price for each country, so the amount you pay in India is different.

CELPIP fee in India

In India, CELPIP charges in rupees, and the exact price, including any taxes, shows when you pick a test session in your CELPIP account. Test-preparation websites reported about ₹15,500 per sitting in September 2026, but we could not confirm that figure on CELPIP’s own website, so check the amount at checkout before you pay.

For Canada PR you need CELPIP-General, the full four-skill test. CELPIP-General LS covers only Listening and Speaking, so it cannot be used for Express Entry.

Where you can take CELPIP in India

CELPIP’s India page lists test centres in cities including Chandigarh, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Chennai and Hyderabad. Chandigarh was the first Indian city to get a CELPIP centre, in 2018. Centres and dates change, so use the test-date search on celpip.ca to see sessions near you.

Cancellation and refunds

You request a cancellation in your CELPIP account. Registration for a session closes one business day before the test, or earlier if the session fills up.

What the CELPIP fee includes

• The whole CELPIP-General test on computer: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, with your speaking answers recorded by the computer.
• Your scores online in your CELPIP account, 3 to 4 business days after the test.
• Scores reported as CELPIP levels, which match CLB levels one to one: CELPIP 7 is CLB 7, and CELPIP 9 is CLB 9.

CELPIP vs IELTS for Canada PR

IELTS General Training costs ₹19,000 in India. Compare that with the CELPIP rupee price you see at checkout, but remember that the cheaper test is the one you pass in one attempt. Other differences matter more:

• Format: CELPIP is fully on computer, including Speaking. In IELTS, Speaking is a conversation with an examiner.
• Scores: CELPIP levels match CLB directly. IELTS bands are converted to CLB with IRCC’s chart.
• Results: CELPIP in 3 to 4 business days; IELTS on computer within a few days and on paper after about 13 days.

How to book CELPIP

1. Create a CELPIP account on celpip.ca with your name exactly as on your ID.
2. Choose CELPIP-General, then your country, city, test centre and date.
3. Pay online by card and keep the confirmation.
4. Check the reporting time and the ID you must bring on test day.

How to avoid paying the fee twice

• Check the CLB level you need in each skill, for example CLB 9 for a strong Express Entry score.
• Book once your practice scores reach that level in every skill, not just on average.
• Practise speaking to a screen with a timer. It feels different from talking to a person.
