Express Entry CRS Changes from 3 November 2026

From 3 November 2026, IRCC is changing how Express Entry scores Canadian work experience and job offers. A new labour market integration factor gives up to 150 CRS points (140 with a spouse or partner) for either your Canadian work experience or a job offer, whichever scores higher. Experience and job offers in eligible high-wage occupations earn extra points, and an LMIA is no longer needed. Age, education, language and French points do not change.

What is changing on 3 November 2026?

IRCC announced the changes on 16 October 2026. Only the points for Canadian work experience and job offers change.

  • A new labour market integration factor, worth up to 150 points, or 140 with a spouse or partner. IRCC compares your points for Canadian work experience with your points for a job offer and gives you the higher of the two, not both.
  • Canadian work experience keeps its current points for each year. If at least 12 months of it were in an eligible high-wage occupation, you get a bonus of 70, 40 or 20 points.
  • Job offers in an eligible high-wage occupation earn 100, 70 or 50 points. Job offers in other occupations earn no CRS points.
  • No LMIA needed. A Labour Market Impact Assessment is no longer required for a job offer to count, and having one adds no points. IRCC still checks that job offers are genuine.

The new points at a glance

CRS points for Canadian work experience and job offers from 3 November 2026
What you havePoints
1 to 5+ years of Canadian work experienceSame as now: 40 to 80 (35 to 70 with a spouse)
12+ months of that work in a high-wage occupationA bonus of 70, 40 or 20
Job offer in a high-wage occupation100, 70 or 50
Job offer in any other occupation0
Most you can get from this factor150 (140 with a spouse)

The three levels depend on the occupation’s median wage: at least 2, 1.5 or 1.3 times the average median wage. IRCC publishes the list of high-wage occupations and their levels, and gave engineers and electricians as examples.

How the new points work: three examples (single applicants)

  • Applying from India, with no Canadian work experience or job offer: 0 points for this factor, before and after 3 November. The score does not change.
  • Two years of Canadian work experience, with at least 12 months in an occupation at the 1.5 times level: 53 points before; 53 + 40 = 93 points after.
  • A job offer in an occupation at the 2 times level, with no Canadian work experience: 0 points before, because job offer points were removed in March 2025; 100 points after.

What this means if you are applying from India

Most candidates applying from India have no Canadian work experience or job offer, so their score does not change. But candidates with Canadian experience or a high-wage job offer can gain up to 150 points in the same rounds, which can affect the cut-offs you face.

The points you control from India have not changed. Moving from CLB 7 to CLB 9 in all four skills adds 56 points for a single applicant, plus up to 50 more in skill transferability. French at NCLC 7 in all four skills adds a 50-point bonus when your English is CLB 5 or higher, plus second-language points.

What happens to profiles already in the pool?

IRCC will recalculate every profile in the pool when the new rules start. It says this can take up to two weeks, and invitation rounds will pause until it is done. You do not need a new profile, but keep any job offer or Canadian work details in it accurate.

Are more changes coming?

IRCC is also consulting on wider reforms, such as replacing the three federal programs with a single class and changing other CRS factors, including provincial nomination points. These are proposals, not rules.

This guide is general information, not immigration advice. IRCC decides every application, and its rules can change.
