TOEFL Exam Fee in India (2026) and How to Register

ETS India says its fees include GST. Fees can change, so check the amount on ETS’s fee page when you register. Extra score reports and other services have their own fees, listed in ETS’s India bulletin.

How to register for TOEFL: step by step

1. Create an ETS account with your name and date of birth exactly as on your passport.
2. Choose a test centre and date in your city. ETS also offers an at-home edition in many countries; check ETS India for current options.
3. Choose your score recipients, the universities that should get your scores.
4. Pay the fee online and keep the confirmation.
5. Read your confirmation for the reporting time, test centre rules and what to bring.

Registration and rescheduling deadlines

• Regular registration closes 7 full days before the test date.
• Late registration is possible until 2 days before, with the extra fee.
• Rescheduling or cancelling: ETS India’s bulletin asks for changes at least 4 full days before your test, online. Late requests are not refunded.

ID rules in India

Bring your original passport on test day. The name and date of birth you registered with must match it exactly, or you may not be allowed to test and your fee will not be refunded.

What to expect on test day

• Bring your original passport; without it you cannot test.
• Arrive early for check-in, ID checks and a photo.
• Phones, bags and notes stay outside the test room.
• Plan for about two hours in total, including setup.

How to choose your TOEFL date

Work back from your earliest application deadline. Allow about 3 days for your scores and up to 16 business days for universities to receive them, and leave room for a retake if you need a higher score.

Getting your scores

For tests from 21 January 2026, scores reach your ETS account about 3 days after the test. Universities you chose receive them in roughly 4 to 16 business days, depending on how they get reports. TOEFL scores are valid for two years.
