Estimate only. Assumes English is your first official language and French your second. Not a full CRS calculation. It does not include French-language category draws, which are a separate advantage.

How French adds CRS points

French can add points in two places in the Comprehensive Ranking System:

  1. Additional points for French (IRCC): with NCLC 7 or higher in all four French skills, you get 50 points if your English is CLB 5 or higher in all four skills, or 25 points if it is CLB 4 or lower or you have no English test.
  2. Second official language points: 1 point per skill at NCLC 5–6, 3 per skill at NCLC 7–8 and 6 per skill at NCLC 9+, up to 24 points (22 with a spouse).

NCLC 7 in all four French skills also makes you eligible for French-language category draws, which have closed far below general draws. See French for Canada PR and NCLC levels explained.
